This is Stressful! -Social Emotional Series (4 hours total $1,200) You are not alone. Early childcare teaching is a stressful career and asking for help doesn’t mean you aren’t a good teacher or lack time management skills. Just as we adapt to new ways to help children learn and develop, we should also address our own mental health to do the best we can for each child’s development. In this Social-Emotional Series we will discuss ways to manage and reflect on stressful days and how to set-up to be successful today, for tomorrow.
(1 hour) Stress Identification and Elimination-A dive into the actual chemical reaction that happens inside your body when you are faced with multiple challenges in a short amount of time and how to identify, organize, plan and prepare. So many of us do what we can to avoid stressful situations that we forget to plan and prepare for what to do when they happen. We will discuss different typical types of situational stressors and how to manage them in the moment.
(1 hour) Routines are key- Children and adults thrive on consistency and expectations. When we know what to expect, we can grow above and beyond expectations in our safe environments. How to develop a routine plan and stay flexible in order to make adjustments based on each age group as we prepare for each challenging situation.
(1 hours) Working with Others- How to build great partnerships- Most of us become teachers because we love to work with children (and maybe, not so much-adults). As we plan for our days, and the group of children we are teaching, we sometimes forget about our valuable resources. Learn how to effectively work in a classroom by utilizing those resources from other teachers, managers, and even parents.
(1 hour) Help!- When and how to ask for help. As teachers we sometimes feel isolated from the world in our classrooms. Reaching out for help may cause us to feel like a burden as we consider the possibility of other’s stress levels when living in our own. How to effectively measure a stressful situation and decide when to ask for help, who to go to; co-workers, parents, managers, or outside specialists, and what to expect from each resource.
*Trifecta of Control- Practical Series (3 hours total $1,000) Ways to re-focus and revive useful processes to regain control. There are three main areas that -if broken down or forgotten - will cause stress and instability within the classroom and at home. In this series we will focus on the trifecta of ways to build your foundation with best practices for peace in and out of the classroom.
(1 hour) Resetting the Day- You have made the plans that were perfect and now there is chaos in the classroom. Take these five steps to think outside the box and regain control in out of control moments.
(1 hour) Turn Time Takers into Time Catchers- Are you losing time to implement your plans inside the classroom because of distractions? What about the time for planning assessments and all of the other time takers? We will discuss ways to organize and improve planning and decrease interruptions in and out of the classroom.
(1 hour) Temperament Communications- Before you have a conversation with a child’s parents/caregivers learn their style of temperament to arm yourself with the ability to have a productive, “everyone is on the same page” plan. And what to do if you don’t know what to expect.
